Human curators create a variety of themed playlists that help users discover new music. After a recent update, the entire library is available in lossless hi-fi at no extra charge. Pros: Apple Music has a library of 90 million songs that can be accessed on Apple, Windows, and Android devices. Who it’s best for: People who already have large iTunes libraries or who are otherwise committed to the Apple ecosystem. You don’t get to use the app any other way. That lets you access any song or playlist using your voice-and only your voice. You can use Siri to control Apple Music with a regular plan, but there’s also a cheaper “ voice plan” for $5 per month. There’s no free tier, but you can get a one-month free trial or six months free if you’ve bought eligible AirPods, HomePod smart speakers, or Beats headphones. Apple Music also has a discounted rate of $5 for students. Price: Individuals pay $10 per month for families of up to six, the service costs $15. And while Prime members don’t have to pay extra for the basic tier of Prime Music, its 2 million songs amount to a thin selection compared with what you get from other streaming services. The service also has a large and growing library of spatial audio content mastered in Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio.Ĭons: Amazon Music Unlimited doesn’t seem to be quite as effective in making recommendations as many competitors, Spotify in particular. That entire library can now be streamed in high definition, and over 7 million tracks are available in 24-bit Ultra HD. Unlimited has more than 90 million songs, curated playlists, podcasts, and personalized stations. Pros: Both are ad-free, on-demand services, and if you already have a Prime subscription, Amazon Music Unlimited is the best deal you can get for a really robust collection of content (though not by much). And this is a solid option for streaming high-quality files. The deal isn’t as sweet as it used to be, but a lot of other services cost 99 cents more. Meanwhile, Amazon Music Unlimited is a good bet for Prime members looking for a bargain. Who it’s best for: Amazon Prime Music doesn’t cost anything beyond your regular Amazon Prime membership, so the appeal is obvious. You can get a special $5 rate if you sign up for the Single Device Plan via an eligible Amazon Echo device.Īnyone can access free, ad-supported playlists and stations by asking Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant to play music. There’s a free three-month trial and a discounted family plan. It’s $10 per month for non-Prime members. It has a library of 2 million songs.Īmazon Music Unlimited, with a far bigger library of songs and more features, costs $9 per month for Prime members (or $89 for an annual subscription). Price: Prime Music is included free with Amazon Prime, Amazon’s paid subscription service that costs $15 per month or $139 per year.

In solo mode, go to a checkpoint and drop the item you want to duplicate - you can drop your entire inventory. The Shock Mod is a reward from the " Black Hawk Down" main story quest. There are multiple other places throughout the city to get this as well. Run back and stand on top of the ambulance to get a group of 10, then drop your Molotov on top of them. Head across it and aggro those zombies and the few at the end of the bridge as well. During Act 2 you can exit the church and see an ambulance on a bridge to the right. Throwing a Meat Bait out will easily group them and keep them off you. Using a Molotov is likely your best bet here. But, by the end of this you should have a stable colony running and have an idea of what's to come.Īt the end, I'll recommend some mods that make the game simpler and more enjoyable, as well as some that add content, but this guide will go off the assumption that you're not using any.Ī series of videos going in depth into some specifics: I'm going to suggest some less than ideal ways to do things at times, and my own biases will slip in on occasion. Rimworld isn't a game about absolute optimization, even if you can play it that way. This guide is not meant to be a bible, held to religiously and followed to the letter. A lot of my information comes from them, as these are people far more experienced at the game than I am. There are other guides out there, but they're either terribly outdated or in a video format, which might not appeal to you. It adds a lot of complexity, which can be overwhelming. In fact, while Royalty and Biotech are fine, I would heavily recommend turning Ideology off for your first few games. The three DLC, Royalty, Ideology and Biotech are generally considered to be pretty great, but I don't expect you to have bought them. This guide will assume you've only got the vanilla game. I'll try to bring things up in an organic order, instead of info-dumping everything up front. It will teach you the basics of getting started, where everything is, and some ideas on what you can do. This guide is intended as a how-to for newcomers to the game. TL,DR: Come for the challenge, stay for the memories. Expect to see cowboys armed with revolvers one day, primitive tribesmen armed with clubs the next and occasionally have killer robots show up to exterminate all human life. The game's setting is based on series like Firefly, Dune and a dash of 40k. The world itself is a deadly planet on the outer rim of galactic civilization, filled with ancient trapped ruins, deadly wildlife, friendly and hostile tribes, pirates, lost technology and crashing spaceships. Sometimes you have a story of getting off the planet by the skin of your teeth, sometimes you have a tale of a bickering, infighting colony that didn't prepare properly for winter, got hit by a cold snap causing all their food plants to die off and slowly starved to death. In essence, while Rimworld can be played with a strict goal in mind, it's far more similar to games like Crusader Kings in that it's more about having an interesting experience, and having a story to tell your friends at the end of it, whether that end is good or bad. There are endings you can go for, but there are people with hundreds of hours in the game who never bothered going for them, instead enjoying the experience of building nice bases, watching their colonists live their lives and occasionally see them overrun by machine hordes. It's a game more about telling stories than it is about defeating an opponent or reaching a goal. And like Starcraft, you need to build defenses and fight to keep people and monsters from destroying (or stealing) your stuff. Like the sims, you manage a group of people, build their homes, give them nice furniture and keep them happy. Prison Architect is probably the closest comparison. If you're familiar with Dwarf Fortress, it's like that but actually playable by human beings with eyes. To expand on what that means, you can think of Rimworld as a cross between the Sims and Starcraft, leaning more towards the first. The Silver Content of the Denarius Declines in Purity Over Time The aureus carried a fixed value of 25 denarii and its larger value would ease the burden of money transfers during times of war. The aureus was the primary gold coin of the Roman Empire and was introduced in the late Republic period during the time of the Imperators. Minting of highly valued gold coinage in the Republic was only done in times of dire need. The denarius - the silver coin that would become the mainstay of the Roman economy - was first struck in 211 BC and was valued originally at 10 asses (As).Īpproximately a century later, in 118 BC, it was revalued at 16 asses to reflect the shrinking size of the bronze and copper As. These were later replaced by a coin of roughly half the size (3.4 grams) called the victoriatus to commemorate the defeat of Carthage in the Punic Wars. These coins were struck in Neapolis and were most likely made to be compliant with the trading specification of the Greek colonies in southern Italy. The first of these silver coins produced for Rome were a series of didrachms (called quadrigati for the inclusion of the four horsed chariot imagery) minted during the outbreak of war with Pyrrhus. The Romans imported Greek artisans and began minting silver coins of their own, albeit with a style heavily influenced by Greece. The Greeks had been producing silver coins since the 7th century BC, and silver was the basis of their system. Overlapping the circulation of the Aes Grave, was the introduction of silver coinage.ĭuring the 3rd century BC, Roman moneyers were forced to become more compliant with other cultures for ease in trade. This coinage was likely the primary issue in Rome until about 215 BC, and it would eventually evolve into the base unit of Roman currency, the As. The Aes were molded with carvings of exotic animals or gods, and later were commonly issued with a ship's prow. Allowing for several varieties surely increased the circulation of coinage in ancient Rome and also made trading with other civilizations more practical. The Aes Grave (heavy bronze), appearing sometime around 269 BC, came in several denominations, making them more functional and popular. Within only a few years of the introduction of the Aes Signatum, a new more clearly defined, and easily traded form of coin replaced it. This system obviously carried inherent problems and would very quickly be in need of a replacement.Ĭoins in Different Denominations Made Trading Much Easier This rather hefty weight, however, along with the single denomination made giving change a fragment cutting affair. Each was cast at a weight standard of 1,600 grams so weighing by traders would not have to be done at each transaction. The Aes Signatum carried a particular value and were cast with marks indicating the government authority. These were more than simple lumps of metal, in that they were cast, had a regular and discernable rectangular shape and were stamped with raised designs. The first true Roman coin, the Aes Signatum (signed bronze), replaced the Aes Rude sometime around the start of the 3rd century BC. and the Difficulty of Giving Change!Īs time passed and the circulation of Aes Rude became more common, the Romans and their neighbors began to rely on this simple system of economic transfer. These lumps, called Aes Rude (raw bronze), could be used not only as coinage, but also - in large enough quantities - they could be melted down for the manufacturing of various metal tools and objects. All manner of trade goods, farm products, livestock and services were used as a means of exchange.Īs Rome grew, and the need for a system other than barter with it, lumps of bronze and other base metals began to be used in lieu of the exchange of one good for another. The Roman economy, from its founding and establishment as a Republic, through to the fifth and fourth centuries BC was a system of barter and community trade. I also like the super helpful ability to force a new program installation to be logged so that leftovers will be easier to delete when you want to remove the program. Windows XP users have to use the portable version. I've used this to uninstall programs on Windows 11 and Windows 10, but it also runs on Windows 8, 7, and Vista. It even includes built-in reviews submitted by other users. This uninstaller can also remove program entries from the list of installed software, instantly search through all the programs, sort by installation date or size, and delete software in batches. I always like to see this feature in a software remover.įorced Uninstall is an option that can force a program to be removed if you've already tried using the software's regular uninstaller but were unable to get it removed properly. Wise Program Uninstaller, like some other uninstallers here, supports an easy way of removing programs via the right-click context menu in File Explorer. I don't recommend using this if you're easily overwhelmed by lots of options, but I do recommend it if you like to have lots of control over how your programs work.īeyond its ability to clean up leftover files, perform forced uninstallations, and detect portable apps are these advanced and rare features I want to mention: quiet uninstallations, prevent system shutdown during an uninstallation, create a restore point, bulk removal (no limit), quickly delete an app's registry entry, uninstall by window/file/folder, and run commands before and after uninstalling. It also works on Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. I regularly use this app on Windows 11, and I've tested it with Windows 10. IObit Uninstaller can also create a System Restore point before making any changes, includes a file shredder, can force-remove a program, supports batch uninstalls, deletes bundled programs, and includes other useful tools, too. This is also true if you uninstall a program without using IObit Uninstaller-it will still prompt you to remove those leftover items. A similar tool makes it easy to delete running programs.Īfter a program is deleted, you can have the program scan the registry and file system for leftover data that the installer may have missed, which is a great way to keep your computer free of clutter. You can right-click any program on your desktop and choose to remove it with this tool without ever having to find the program's uninstall utility yourself. In my opinion, the best feature in IObit Uninstaller, and the one I use most often, is the right-click context menu integration. There's a lot you can do with it, including a few things not supported in Windows' built-in app remover, including find and remove programs you hardly use, uninstall browser toolbars and plugins, and even see which of your programs could be updated to a newer version. IObit Uninstaller is the app I prefer to use when deleting a program. |
